The pursuit of finished artwork is littered with ‘stuff’ that is either unfinished, ideas that never went anywhere, or just playtime sketches. The experimental, the “what the heck am I going to do with this”… all crying out to be shared and loved, or hoping they will stay at the bottom of the studio drawer forever.

But in reviewing old and dare I say ‘failed’ work we not only learn to find a direction but also may find a wee creative nugget inspiring us follow the original idea. I try to look on things that didnt turn out as planned as learning experiences, fortunate accidents that are part of the creative process. Like many I am currently struggling with motivation so sharing the old ‘stuff’ with myself and an audience is one way to get around creative blockages … I am told :)
